Error--Define <1000/15/99> first as a general sales area!

Hi All Gurus,

I have defined sales area,made assignment,combined sales org.,distribution channel and division,made common distribution channel and division but when I goto OVAZ that is sales area assignment to sales doc.type it is giving this error---Define <1000/15/99> first as a general sales area!

Let me tell u I have used all these transaction OVAO,OVAM,OVAN,OVAZ,VOR1 & VOR2 ....is there any other t/code which resolve the above problem

Dear Umed,

This is a sequence infringement of Customizing activities.

Once, You created Sales Org and Dist Chnl in IMG-Settings, i.e.

SPRO --> IMG --> Enterprise Structure --> Definition --> Sales and Distribution

--> Define Sales Org

--> Define Dist. Chnl

Also, create Division:

SPRO --> IMG --> Enterprise Structure --> Definition --> Logistics - General --> Define Division

Once, Enterprise Definition is Done, we make assignment:

SPRO --> IMG --> Enterprise Structure --> Assignment --> Sales and Distribution

--> Assign Dist. Chnl to Sales Org

--> Assign Division to Sales Org

--> Set Up Sales Area

and Finally, we Maintain Following settings in sequence:

OVAO: Define reference S. Org. - assign the same sales org to it, i.e, 1000 to 1000

OVAM: Define reference D. Chl. - assign Sales Org+Dist channel, i.e. 1000+15 to 15

OVAN: Define reference Dvn. - assign Sales Org+Division, i.e. 1000+ 99 to 99

OVAZ - Assign Sales Document Type to permitted sales Area.

Now, you get the error:

Define <1000/15/99> first as a general sales area!

As per my understanding, you must check and maintain Assignment, via:

OVXK Assignment: Distr. Channel --> Sales Org

OVXA Assignment: Division --> Sales Org

OVXG Set Up: Sales Area: Overview

and then make assignment in OVAZ.

Please, check the same and update.

I have followed the same procedure what u have mentioned and also I have tried as per your instruction

OVXK* Assignment: Distr. Channel --> Sales Org

OVXA* Assignment: Division --> Sales Org

OVXG* Set Up: Sales Area: Overview

I have remade the assginment and assigned to OVAZ but It is giving same error

if Sales org , DC,Divs are not maintained the same one. What is going to be the impact ?

e.g. OVAO: Define reference S. Org. - assign the same sales org to it, i.e, 1000 to 2000 OVAM: Define reference D. Chl. - assign Sales OrgDist channel, i.e. 100015 to 25 OVAN: Define reference Dvn. - assign Sales OrgDivision, i.e. 1000 99 to 199

Dear Umed,

Can you go-back to Transactions: OVXK, OVXA and OVXG

In each Transaction, up there, Tab: Analyze Error(s)

It will list out all the Incorrect/ Incomplete related-Assignment.

If any, Please maintain, else update.

Dear Sushant,

The importance of doing this activitity i.e. OVAO, OVAM and OVAN is:

Say, OVAM:

For each combination of sales organization and dist. chnl there is a reference Dist. Chnl for customer and material master data, and also for condition data and sales document types. This allows the data in the reference Dist. Chnl to be used in the original Dist. Chnl too.

Similary, for OVAN or OVAO

All Sales Doc Type assigned to the reference sales organization, 1500 are also allowed for sales organization, as per Config-maintenace in OVAO.

Dear Umed,

As, this issue was already being raised so many times in this Forum, but there were no Solid reasoning behind the Error-Resolution.

I had gone through, such post in past also, but First time, I suggested this solution (i.e. OVXA, OVXK and OVXG), based up on some logical thinking.

Now, as this has worked for you, I humbly request you to Please update with the Maintenance, you have made, in order to resolve the error.

This will work as reference for others.

Dear Amit,

I simply deleted the assignment of sales org to Distribution channel,sales org.to division and set up sales area and reassigned to all and maintained again combined and common to sales area and later on assigned in OVAZ.

Define Common Distribution Channels and Define Common Divisions in the T code VOR1 and VOR2 Resp. and try for t code OVAZ.

If your assignment in OVXG is pucca, then system will not throw this error. Check once again this area.
