The Shift Planning component allows you to distribute your human resources quickly and efficiently, and ensures that an enterpriseu2019s capacity is used to the full extent. You can assign shift time, shift location, selection and number of required employees so that your personnel capacity is utilized to its maximum effect.

Suppose there came a sudden emergency holiday and you need to pay your employees, in that case you can define the substitution for these employees as OFF on that particular day with different from the normal working shift in IT0007.

Also suppose in a particular shift there is some shortage of man power and you can use other employees by changing the substitution in IT 2003

Thanks for all the anwers.

My Requirement is to have a work schedule such that it has 2 hrs slot through out the day.

E.G. 8-10 , 10-12, 12-14 and so on.

These 2 hour time slots can be viewable and in Shift planning and also can be assigned to employees.

The employee can be assigned to 3 such slots in a single day. The employee may work for slot 8-10 in shift locaiton A, slot 10-12 in another shift location and 12-14 in another shift location.

Is it possible to attain this thru work schedule and shift planning. Can we assign multiple shifts on the same day.

Please advise.

Hi Swati,

It is difficult/nearly not possible to assign 2 or 3 shifts to an employee on the same day in IT0007.

But to help you map the scenario you have mentioned i have given few examples below.

1. If the different shift location you have mentioned are captured in Personnel Sub area. you can group the shifts based on Personnel subarea in PSA grouping for Work Schedules.

Eg:

PSA PS grouping for Shifts

01 - Location A 41

02 - Location B 42

03 - Location c 43

2. Create the shifts (Shift-A 8-10 , Shift-B 10-12, Shift-C 12-14) in each location individually along with breaks in Daily Work Schedule.

3. In Periodic Work Schedule Maintain the rotation of the above created shifts however you want to map it based on the scenario PSA wise.

Eg:

01 SHIFT1 001 Shift-A Shift-B Shift-C Shift-A Shift-B OFF OFF

or

01 SHIFT1 001 Shift-A Shift-B Shift-C Shift-A Shift-B OFF OFF

01 SHIFT1 002 Shift-B Shift-C Shift-A Shift-B Shift-C OFF OFF

01 SHIFT1 003 Shift-C Shift-A Shift-B Shift-C Shift-A OFF OFF

the above model applies only if the employee's shift tend to change on weekly basis.

PS: If the employee has to work on the timings (8-10 , 10-12, 12-14) on a daily basis

Just create the Daily work schedule with the Start time as 08:00 am and end time as 14:00 along with break and go ahead with PWS and WSR.

Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone.

There is no fixed routine as Shift A followed by Shift B or vice versa.

Actually this kind of work schedule has to be used to meet the reqirements of Customer Service Module, to help them to assign the employees in groups and shifts for different service orders. And the location and timings are very dynamic no fixed pattern.

But it should not impact payroll.:)

As you rightly said its nearly impossible. Since I cannot change the exisitng PA/PSA config.

Thanks Shanker and Santosh for all your answers.

Swati

Hi Swati,

How did you solve this requirement ? Could you please share your knowledge.

I am also looking at a similar requirement for Doctors rota management (dynamic shift planning with multiple shifts per day per Doctor).

There are 4 shifts per day. Doctors can choose which shift they want to work. They can choose to work more than one shift in a day and also may not work at all. Shift planning should allocate Doctors to 4 shifts based on their choice & availability.

Is it possible to achieve this using Time Management and shift planning. If so how ?

Regards

Sailen

A single '?' is enough.

Motivations for the Shift Planning

In the medical care field, especially in hospitals, employees are scheduled in shifts. Depending on the demands of the specific work centers, various types of medical personnel are required.

Long-term planning ensures the continuity of productive operation for the coming month or months. You must first define which work centers are to be operated at what time. In addition, the qualifications required of the employees in the shift need to be defined. Then, individual employees are divided into shift groups. Membership in the shift group is also checked (shift foreman). In short-term planning, any existing gaps (illness or leave) are quickly and efficiently filled.

The planning tool should reflect rules in place, taking into account shift sequence, maximum working time, minimum rest periods, as well as pointing out rule violations.

The finished shift plan (long-term and short-term) is the basis upon which employees are compensated. Hours worked, overtime or shift compensation payments are thus taken into consideration.

In the retail industry, salespeople need to be scheduled for specific times. Depending upon the volume and nature of the work, specific types of sales personnel are required.

Date Requirements for Shift Planning

A comprehensive and updated overview of all employees in a department and their availability is a necessity for effective shift planning. Immediate access to the planning status of all employees simplifies any rescheduling that may be required at short notice.

Shift planning must be carried out with immediate access to current time data. Alternative scenarios are, of course, always possible. Absence due to illness may be recorded centrally in the personnel department. When this is entered in the R/3 Time Management, the data must also be available to the shift planner. The organizational situation is equally important. Shift planning must have direct access to the current organizational plan, so that scheduling is always carried out with valid organizational assignment data.
