Hi ,
One of our client's business partner also use SAP PI. I am lookings for documents/ reference models on PI to PI intetegration.
regards,
Arvind Ravindran.
Hi Arvind,
I had to integrate a PI with another PI for a former project and I used proxy to proxy communication, in this way the integration engine of the first PI will communicate with the IE of the second PI.
By using proxy you have the advantage of skipping any kind of adapter and you will also be able to manage acknowledgments as they are supported by proxy technology.

Sergio

Arvind,
1.use XI adapter
2. also u will have to use HTTP connection to external server in SM 59 to connect to second xi system

Hey, thx u for your response.
We are going to receive IDOCs from our partners.
Here is the system landscape -
Partner System - > Partner PI - > IDOCs - > transport over internet/VPN maybe - > My PI systems - > My SAP system (prefer to receive IDOcs over proxies)
So can my PI systems receive IDOCs from a partner PI system? partner SAP system directly? If so what is the setup required.
Thank You.
Hey,
This may sound like a dumb question...but let me ask it anyway...
If Xi can send and receive IDOCs in it native format...it as good as a ECC system..
Can I treat the external PI system as an ECC system - make the port connections/ partner profile etc... The external PI systems outbound IDOCs will be consumed by my PI system. and I then route it to my ECC system.
Possible? or just a harebrained idea?
Regards,
Arvind
Hi,
If you are trying to connect PI 7.1 systems, then you can use direct connection using WS adapter using WSRM for communicating PI to PI...........But if you are using XI3.0/PI7.0 systems, then you should use proxy communication using XI adapter..........

Hi Arvind,
What sergio says is actually the only alternative of integrating pi to pi. I don't think there is any other method.
