Not able to login to CMC or InfoView after installation of BOE XI 3.1

Hello everybody.

I've installed the Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1 Suite in a virtual machine without any problems or errors.

But I can't login to the CMC oder InfoView.

When I type in the username ("Administrator") and the set password during the installation and press enter the site just reload and the field are empty again.

When trying to login to InfoView with this credentials I get an error: "Logon denied: Your session is not valid or has expired."

It seems that all services are running, too.

Watch the screenshot: http://img268.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=92413_02.04_123_100lo.jpg

I've deinstalled the hole thing and reinstalled it. Same result.

Any hints?

Thanks in advance,

Sebastian

If the login request reached the CMS you should have gotten an error (such as bad userid or password). If the CMS were down the web/app should return a message about no CMS being available.

Since neither is happening I'd suspect the issue is with your browser, DNS, or network.

Try from a different workstation, or use the server FQDN or IP inthe URL instead of the hostname.

Try another browser such as firefox...

Okay.

Thank you both for your answers.

I solved the problem.

It was realy easy in the end.

Given by the hint from Tim I changed the pc name that is used by default (http://machinename:8080/...) to the IP adress (http://192.168....:8080/....).

I think my brain was turned of yesterday.

It should work with your hostname as well. Does your hostname have special characters? An underscore in the hostname causes the same behavior on previos BO versions. I haven't test in 3.1, thought. (http://machine_name:8080/...)

Just a note , when posting links to images , please make sure that the hosting site doesn't have offending content on it.

@Denis: I'm sorry. I just took one I found by google...

@Leonidas: That's an interesting fact. I'll face this and try it with a computername without the underline.

Note that this is not a BO problem.

Search for "underscore" at http://support.microsoft.com.

the underscore issue was fixed on windows 2000 SP3 so that shouldn't be an issue. I'd look mor at the computer DNS, run some ping tests, but as just stated it's not something BO software related.

Tim

Although this is an old thread, I'd like to share the following:

I had the exact same issue. Login fails on Internet Explorer, but DOES work on Google Chrome.

After all the cause was an underscore (_) in the web URL. When logging in on another URL (such as the IP address), logging in was also possible in Internet Explorer.

well, may be an old post, but its still a current issue. I have tried everything mentioned except Chrome with no success. I just get a blank screen. There are no unacceptable characters in the hostname, and the IP will not work either. Any other suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks.

Does your password meet the minimum requirements? i would also configure the password after the installation completes.
