I'm trying to pull the default trace log for a SAP ticket. I've followed the guide in the following note. https://me.sap.com/support/article/0001596214 but I'm not able to get anything to show. I'm confused on what needs to be populated in the SID and J2EE instance field of the URL it ask to use.
\usr\sap\<SID>\<J2EE_instance_number>\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\

I can see the trace file when I look in the log viewer or NWA but not sure how to download it.

Hi Shanmukha,

Have you tried this URL

http://<localhost>:<port>/nwa

to have access you need to have Super Admin role assigned to your ID.

In that URL navigate to

Monitoring - Logs and Traces - In show (Predefined View) (in Select View - Default Trace).

Hope this helps.

Cheers-

Hi Shanmukha,

For use of the NWA, the user can be assigned four different roles:

1. SAPJAVA_NWADMIN_CENTRAL

2. SAPJAVA_NWADMIN_CENTRAL_READONLY

3. SAPJAVA_NWADMIN_LOCAL

4. SAPJAVA_NWADMIN_LOCAL_READONLY

You can view the default trace in nwa using the link http://<server>:<port>/nwa.

Also check the link below for more details on Logging and Tracing:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/5b/4e4a4278bbb56be10000000a155106/frameset.htm

Another way to check the default trace file is:

1.start Visual Admin

2.goto Services->Log viewer

3.<SID>\j2ee\cluster\server0\log

4.Open defaultTrace.trc

Hope this answers your question.

Seema Rane.
