Hello colleagues,
after a new PI 7.1 installation on two server systems (database + primary application server and one additonal application server) I indicated following issue when i try to start the whole system.
In the SAPMMC console under process list for the addtional application server I found that "disp+work.exe"; (Dispatcher) stopped.
Under Syslog I detected following errors:
Database: Database error -21468 at CON
Database: > [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]SQL Network
Interfaces: The
Database: > target principal name is incorrect
For me it looks like that the additional application server respectively the MS SQL native client aren't able to connect to the database on the primary application server.
Does anybody know how I am able to fix this issue?
Many thanks in advance!
Regards,
Jochen
That error message sounds like a DNS or Active Directory issue.
Check the box properties in AD.

Hi,
Either of the below 1 will be the issue.
1st thing is, its clear the Dispatcher is unable to communicate with Message server.
So Check if there is any network interruptions between the two.
2nd check the login credentials to DB. See if the login from server is happening to SQL in a correct way.
check the w0.log , disp.log and also MSG.log

Hi all,
many thanks for answer!
In the meantime we find several unsuccessfull logins at Security Event Log on the primary application server because of following
Reason: Unknown user name or bad password
It looks like the credentials for login to the SQL server on the primary application area are wrong.
How I am able to verify this?
Is the assumption correct: The user for the SQL server login should be the SAPService<SID> which is the (Global domain user) SAP windows service user for both systems.
Many thanks in advance!
Regards,
Jochen
