We solved the problem by setting parameter icm/keep_alive_timeout to -1.

I didn't do this myself, so I can't help you there, but I asked a basis guy to do this and he instantly knew what I was talking about.

Mind you, this requires a restart of the SAP instance.

Hi Rob,

thanks for your prompt help.

could you please findout from your basis person about any other parameter changes which are inter dependent?.

we can take the system restart for every parameter changes. i am little bit concious about any other parameter changes.

if there are anyother changes. as a whole I will restart the system once.

Thanks,

Mohan

Hi,

Sorry, I can't ask him, but I'm 100% sure that he didn't change any other parameter than this one, which appears to have solved our timeout problem.

Success,

Rob

For my own reference later on (and others might have use for this info):

at another customer it was not enough to change "icm/keep_alive_timeout" to -1; I also needed to set "rdisp/plugin_auto_logout" to a high value (in this case 14400 which is 4h).

This might be totally obvious for the basis guys among you, but it took me some time

I think you might be using Webdespatcher. So, check the timeout set in the webdespatcher. If it is low, you can increase it. I cant tell you exactly, but i guess this can be.

We intermittently have this issue too. I wouldn't know what Webdespatcher is, we do have ITSmobile though. (which is where we get these error messages).

Can anyone be more precise as to where in SAP a timeout parameter can be found?

Thanks,

Rob

Hi,

With RZ11 transaction, check next parameters:

icm/conn_timeout

icm/keep_alive_timeout

Hope this helps,

Iván.

Thank you. I'd like to try to change the keepalive timeout, but (unlike the other one) I don't have the option to change it here. Care to help me along?

Hi,

To edit parameters, use RZ10 transaction and select your profile.

Hope this helps,

I've asked a basis guy to do this

Thanks for the tip, I'll let you know if the problem was solved.

(wish I could give you points though)
