After system copy, unable to load data from R3 to BW

Former Member

Hello,

We have done a system copy of R3 from DAP to DAS and of BI from DBP to

DBS.

After this we are unable to load data from DAS to DBS.

Although , when we right click the source systems in RSA1 in BW, they are giving 'connection OK.

But when trying to load data from R3 to BW it is saying that "no active data source abc for source system XYZCLNT100, action terminated'.

Also, which manually activating the datasources also it is showing in the tab 'extraction', 'adapter' as 'Access to SAP data through service API' instead of R3 system.

Kindly advice.

We have run the BDLS for all the source systems in the BI system and 'restored' the source systems in RSA1.

Thanks & Regards,

Kunal.

HI Uday,

Thanks for your reply....

But we checked the RFC connections...Also the source systems in RSA1 in the BW system is showing 'OK' when we do right click and 'check'.

Also, after the system copy, we 'restored' the source system by right-click --> 'restore' after running BDLS.

Still it is giving problem

Thanks.

Have you checked the ALE partner profile definitions in WE20 and ports in WE21? Make sure they are active.

HI,

The partner profiles are active as well as the RFCs connected to the ports are working successfully. Is there any way to check if the ports are active??

Secondly, we have run BDLS after teh system copy to change the logical system from teh production to the test. And after that we have 'restored' the soutce system in RSA1 in BW, by right-clicking on the source system and then 'restore'. So, that will take care of the connections between the R3 & BW systems.

Could you let us know what could be problem? Or rather, how to activate the data sources in R3.

Kunal.

Did you run BDLS in both system for both systems? Means you need to do two runs in each system:

On the copied ERP system and on the copied BI system:

ERP old --> ERP new

BI old --> BI new

HI,

In the BW system, we have run BDLS for the BW as well as the R3 system.

BW old-->BW new

R3 old --> R3 new

In the R3 system, we have run BDLS only for the R3 system.

R3 old --> R3 new

Do you mean that in the R3 system, we need to run BDLS also for the BW system? i.e. BW old --> BW new??

Also, is this the reason why the data sources are not active???

Thanks & Regards,

Kunal.

Yes Ofcourse ... BW old -> BW new.

Your R/3 system might contain Logical name of Old BW systems and it dosent know the existance of the New BW system. Use BDLS.

The first run should be a testrun only by setting flag "Testrun".

The transaction changes the systemname from "old" to "new" in

table T000 and in all other tables which contains the fieldname "LOGSYS".

Hope this will solve your problem

Hi,

Thanks for your inputs...

I will try that also....

1. But what is the purpose of doing the test run, if we have to run BDLS anyways...

2. Also, one more thing...actually after running BDLS, although the SAP job is successful, I am getting some red lines in the spool as below:

*****************************************************************************************************************

Table Name Field Name Number of Relevant Entries Number of Converted Entries

EDP21 SNDPRN 2 0 @03@

EDPP1 PARNUM 1 0 @03@

Field in table already contains the name ABCCLNT100

Error in field of table . Manual correction required.

***********************************************************************************

Do we need to change anything manually ??? If yes then where to make the changes...

Thanks & Regards,

Kunal.

Dear Kunal

What are the version of your BW and R/3? Did you check from RSA7 ? Are you getting any dump in ST22?

Check from TCODE RSTPRFC ( In BW system)

Go to transaction RSSGPCLA

Select RSDRO_ACTIVATE under program class

Click on Set Status

Click on u2018YESu2019 for confirmation

Perform the same steps for RSDRO_EXTRACT and RSDRO_UPDATE ( In BW system)

Check Note 886102 - System Landscape Copy for SAP BW and NW BI and see if you have missed something during refresh.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Anindya,

Thanks for your reply...

The versions of ECC is 6.0 and BI is 7.0 (i.e. both are on same Basis release 700).

The note 886102 is a very good one...But the below steps are not given in that...Also, do we need to refer any other guide for system copy, apart from the note?

What should we check in RSA7...as I understand it shows delta queue...I know that this gets deactivated after an upgrade...Is the same also true for a system copy? If yes, how to activate?

Also, what is the purpose of tcode RSTPRFC in BW system? Is it required for post-processing of system copy?

Thanks once again...

Thanks & Regards,

Kunal.

Hi Kunal

After restoring source system connection from BW side , did you replicate the data source?

Click the option "Replicate as well" during restoring connecion if you have not done this. If some datasource does not exist in BI system, it will prompt for creating it in BI. Choose option "as 3.x Data Source"

After all refresh activities are completed then before reimporting transports execute RSBKDTP_BDLS in SE38 and provide following details ( in BI)

Run RSDS_DATASOURCE_ACTIVATE_ALL for activating data source ( in BI)

Run RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL for activating transfer structure (in BI) Refer to SAP note 1056060)

RSTPRFC is for "Change source system name after transport". You can access the same from SAP menu SPRO > SAP reference IMG > BIW > Transport Settings

This steps should solve your issue. If not please revert back. Best of Luck

HI Anindya,

Thanks very much for the information...

We replicated the source systems after the system copy by restoring the connection...

After all refresh activities are completed then before reimporting transports execute RSBKDTP_BDLS in SE38 and provide following details ( in BI)

--> Actually this transport is of what? Because we have done system copy by database restore...And we have reimported transport request for RFS destinations....not for anything else...

Also, our system is having support package 14 of BW, so the note 1056060 is already included in the system...And I am able to see the programs mentioned in the system...But can I run these, because my system is a test system, not a production??

Thanks & Regards,

Kunal.

Hi Kunal

"no active data source abc for source system XYZCLNT100, action terminated'

Please replace abc and XYZ with proper value. So that we can understand the error message properly.

Please check

Note 1142908 - 70SP19: BDLS does not convert DTPs

Note 1142908 - 70SP19: BDLS does not convert DTPs

h5.--> Actually this transport is of what?

When we refresh QAS database from PRD, all the changes which have been moved to QAS but not in PRD, get deleted from QAS. So, to bring back the previous developments to QAS, we again re-import those transports which were there in QAS before refresh (system copy) but not in PRD.

Did you follow any document during this system copy? There can be various customized methods of system copy depending on the system as well as SAP standard method. Which method you followed?

RSDS_DATASOURCE_ACTIVATE_ALL--This will activate all datasource in your BW system.

Could you please go to tcode slg1 and see if there is any error in BDLS run ( object CALE, subobject LOGSYSNAME).

Please also check for application log from slg1 ( object RSAR, subobject METADATA)

Thanks and Regards

HI,

The problem is solved now...We are able to load data from R3 to BW...

Thanks everyone for their help...

4 changes done compared to last time:

1. One note 1087980 implemented (in R3) to move the system from BI to SAP in RSA1 in BW system

2. RSSGLPCA in BW run as per note 886102

3. Modification in one table RSLOGSYSDEST in BW.

4. Also, activities done in the order: BDLS  RFC  WE20 & activate partner profile (both R3 & BW) note 1087980 implemented (in R3)  RSSGPCLA (in BW)  Change entries in table RSLOGSYSDEST (in BW) u2018Restoreu2019 (in BW)

But still one minor problem is remaining...i.e. there are some tables in BW system pertaining to the new functionality DTP (Data transfer process). These tables still contain the logical system name of the R3 prod instead of R3 test.

We ran program RSBKDTP_BDLS in BW test system as per the note 961551. But this program runs for a very long time, job logs get filled on OS level and still the entries in the tables are not changed. Kindly advice what should be done.

Also, there is another note 1142908 (SP19), but it asks for more notes when I try to implement, and our system is on SP14 now.

Kindly suggest.

Thanks & Regards,

Kunal.

Hi,

I hope you have corrected Logical system names in source system as well. otherwise it will take the old Logical Name and will be a conflict. Pls Check.
