Hi, ehs experts.
there are two sub-companies in different city , they need to creat different msds reports with the same material, though most of report is the same , the company name and address and so on are different, what's more, there is only one client for sap, i don't know how to configure the sap for the need. who can help me?
Hello,
You can use the "initiator" for this. It is in fact the Sales Organisation from the other parts of SAP.
In CG54 see menu item "Utilities - Change Initiator" plus check the documentation on this in help.sap.com.
MSDS Initiator (Sales Organization)
Definition
The senderu2019s details must be entered on a material safety data sheet. These details include, for example, the address of the company, emergency telephone number, and names of contact persons who can provide information about a material safety data sheet.
The SAP system determines the sender data for the material safety data sheet via the sales organization (in general, the initiator) that was specified in the sales document. You can store other data in a text field for the sales organization in Customizing. You can extract all this data and print it on a report.
For more information about the text field, see under Check External Prerequisites in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Product Safety.
Kind Regards,
John Hermans

Hello,
Refer to the sap help from the below link..

Rgds,
Hello all
keep in mind the new regulation REACH effective sinse last year in europe. If you distribute a MSDS in europe you must ! provide an eMail address in chapter one. This is not necessary in other regions of the world (but good working practise).
If you take a look on the SAP document (refer to the link provided in this discussion) you will get an idea how to solve the issue.
In most cases you will need to set up a diferent MSDS distribution process in europe compared to NAFTA region (there are frutehre reasons to do so).
One further hint: normally you will need to set up a different cover letter regarding the different companies (topic of may be logo etc.) you would like to support in the MSDS distribution process and therefore more customizing etc. is required. Based on initiator you can e.g. select the SAP printer to print the MSDS etc.
With best regards
Christoph
Hi,
You can overcome this problem using the "validity area category" you can divide validity areas into organizational units. For example, you can also then define a particular plant or business area as a validity area. You specify validity areas and validity area categories in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools under "Specify Validity Areas and Specify Validity Area Categories". Depending on the validity area category, you can set up a dynamic input help for the Validity area field and specify a function module that checks the entries in this field.
Hope this will solve your problem

Hi,
Can you check whether the two cities are within same country?? if so then probably you don't need to create two MSDS's at all, if the two cities are not within the same countries/Judisriction, then you need to create two different Generation varients and they should be assigned to respective Validity Areas.
If its two different companies, then obviously the product name and address must be different, Also the two companies will have to create MSDS's based on their Product name assuming they are not sharing the same SAP s/w.

Keshav
