Scorecard > Set KPIs error message

I am getting this error message when I go to Set KPIs:

A problem was encountered while processing your request. Please try again later!

This error message loads within the SSM Admin interface. It seems to be a generic SAP message, as the SAP logo and banner load with the message. There are 'Back' and 'Close' buttons on the error page.

I thought this might be a Java issue so I bounced Java processes via the SAP MMC, but that did not resolve the issue. I get the error regardless of which Context is selected. Set KPIs was acessible just a few days ago and to my knowledge no system changes have since been made.

Thoughts/suggestions on resolving this?

Hi Laura,

You should make sure that your user, even though you might be set as a Strategy Management administrator, needs to have access to the PAS model metrics.

This is done through the model connection. If the model connection has an app.server connection specified for everyone, then you have access to the PAS model. Otherwise your user needs to be specified in one of the created App.Server Connections.

In case there is a security procedure implemented in the PAS model, then the PAS user you assigned to (through the ModelConnection->App.ServerConnection) needs to have the appropriate access rights defined there.

I would expect that if your user has no rights to the PAS model, or to its metrics, you would get such an error when connecting to this page. You would also find in this case that you would not be able to see the data for this model in the end-user interface, in the Scorecard Tab.

Hope this helps!

Laura,

When are you getting the message - when you first click on Set KPIs in the Administrator interface? Or at what step when you attempt to set KPIs after that area has opened?

Right when I click on Set KPIs. The normal contents of the screen are not there - just the error message.

Laura,

If you can see the Context dropdown list, (you mention in your first message that it doesn't matter what Context you select),

Go up one to Set Scorecard defaults and make sure that the Contexts have a Model Connection associated with them.

Then I would suggest checking you Model Connections.

Since the KPIs are coming from the model and the Context has to have a model associated with it, let's try that.

Hi Bob,

In Set Scorecard Defaults there is a model associated with each Context (it's the same model for each). When I test the connection to the model it works.

I was just browsing SSM notes and saw that SP04 HF5 addresses (among other items) an issue with multiple filters applied in Scorecard. Most Contexts in this implementation have a unique filter. Could this be at all related?

This is issue is happening on our DEV box. Interestingly, working with the same environment on our TEST box (I transported to TEST recently to confirm the abilities of the transporter tool), this issue is not happening there. The only changes that have since been made on DEV are in PAS itself as we iron out the BI environment supporting SSM. Not sure if this helps to diagnose but thought I'd put it out there just in case.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Laura,

I'm facing to the same problem. I'm in SSM 7.5 SP5. When I click in Set KPIs I get the message 'A problem was encountered while processing your request; try again later'.

And in the Scorecard tab: 'The website cannot display the page' HTTP 500 Internal Server Error.

We have checked all the connections and they are working well. We have restarted the SAP Management Console, the Listener. In JPIP tools, we have restarted the session. But nothing is helping.

How did you solve your problem?

Thanks in advance.
