How do you collect smoker vs non-smoker info for infotype 0376

We want to charge different medical rates depending on whether employee is smoker verus non smoker.

We are looking for feedback from others that have already done this.

How are you collecting this information from employees?

Do you use the portal? Does SAP deliver something standard for this that integrates during the enrollment process?

Did you create your own iview? Do you use paper?

Hi Paul,

To answer your queries:

1. How do you collect information from employees?

A. As the normal & statutory processes goes, data is collected from the employee on paper and then the same is entered as master data in the SAP system.

2. How do you capture Smoker Vs Non-Smoker?

A. Smoker Vs Non-smoker can be capture while maintaining Employee's data in IT0376 for employee and for Dependents it can be captured in Family/Dependents details in IT0021 (through P0106 - smoker indicator).

3. Charging Different Rates for Smoker & Non-Smoker?

A. You will have to maintain Parameter grouping - Cost Grouping.

Since we are speaking about Health Plans (Medical, in particular); from the Configuration perspective, you will have to maintain Cost Rule Variants with a checkmark on the Smoker Indicator (Parameter Group).

IMG >> Personnel Mgmt >> Personnel Admn >> BEnefits >> Plans >> Health Plans >> Define Cost Variants / Define Cost Rules..

4. Does SAP deliver something std during enrolment process?

A. Once config is done and once Master data is updated with this Smoker Status, SAP system will segregate employees based on the Parameter grouping automatically based on the condition set.

Good Luck !!!

Kumarpal Jain.
