Product Master Data

Hi Experts,

As you know DP have CVC and where as for SNP we can create Master Data. I want to understand what are the limitations SAP have to maintain a separate DP tab in product master data.

Hi Naveen,

As you know, SNP is working based on R/3 master data and we can

use master data maintained in R/3 and maintain only few applications

directly in APO for SNP.

Whereas for DP, it is not the case, DP works based on CVC combinatios

whereas SNP works based on location-product combination.

Hence, there is no necessity from business to SAP to link both

applications for master data because both are made for different

functions.

HI,

Technically working with DP and SNP is very much different. where DP master data is very low and process is more to get the forecast. where for SNP its all the magic of master data, process is simple.

Product master we have in APO, is common for all the modules of APO where it has the common and specific fields for SNP HEU,OPT,DRP,TLB likewise PPDS TPVS and GATP. Mainitianing the required fields is a big challenge for us. and we use product master for DP also for UOM conversion.

Coming to DEMAND tab, we have many fields to be used for SNP, for example pegging. pegging specific fields are used duing SNP run so that the generatd planned orders will be assinged to the open sales orders.

similarly, we have demand profile where HOW TO Consider the Demand ( forecast) during the SNP run or DRP. this is a simple examples.

We can explore more on each option we have in DP tab of product master.
