STW00213 error with XI 3.1 Edge

FYI

At the end of a new install of XI 3.1 Edge i received the following error:

"The CMS failed to start, press retry to start it again or cancel to skip any actions dependent on the CMS . STW00213"

database: boprod, 2 tablespaces CMS and AUDIT with seperate users (roles: connect, resource, dba)

SQL plus connection to cms and audit ok.

tnsping from bo server to db: ok

CMS and Audit tables are created during install.

Environment:

VMWare with Win2003 (not R2) SP2 and latest patches

servername: MS-xyz-001

2Gb ram

Tomcat (not container service)

Oracle 10G CMS and Audit, Oracle 10 client on BO server, tnsnames on BO server

BOXI 3.1 Edge on D:\Program Files\...

30Gb hdd space

Pressed retry several times, to no avail.

Cancelled, but installer not responding anymore.

This was after correction during the install of an earlier problem with the database priviliges.

I did give in a initial password for the admin account.

Ended install process with Task Manager and reboot.

After setup for the second time, it wants to resume an existing install.

When i do this it ends with the same error again.

I could cancel the installation this time. After rollback i removed remaining bo folders and regkeys.

Rebooted, added db servers to hosts file (just to be sure) and started fresh install.

Did not yet give in the admin password.

This time everything went well, without errors.

So, if you encounters this error, please try of check the following:

- connectivity to database ok before setup?

- database rights/roles ok before setup?

- initial administrator password blanc or filled?

- windows hosts file completed with database servers

Hope this helps!

regards,

Daniel

Apart from the above, as a suggestion one may want to install CMS with the default MySQL database and then migrate to a different supported database.
