Crystal Reports: Database Connector Error

Former Member

Hi,

I am using the MDX driver to create a Crystal report out of an InfoCube from the SAP BW System.

The necessary prerequisite ABAP transports have been imported in the SAP system to facilitate the use of MDX driver.

While refreshing the Crystal Report I am getting the following error:

- Failed to retrieve data from the database .

- Database Connector Error:Time limit exceeded .

Any guess why this occurs...

Thanks,

Amogh

Hi,

I don't recollect specific to this issue, it was a long time back. However,I can just say that MDX driver works in wide range of scenarios especially working with an InfoCube. If you are still facing same issue and have explored all options, then best to contact support.

Only way around is I have set static parameter in Prompt. So it is running successfully.

Meanwhile We will Migrate Report in SAP BO 4.1 where its work perfect.

Hi,

- did you import the ABAP Transports for the Integration Kit ?

- does the BW query you are using work in transaction RSRT ?

- how many data are you retrieving ?

Hi Ingo,

Answers presented below:

-Yes, the ABAP Transports have been imported in BW system

-The InfoCube data has been checked by visiting the Contents of table

-I am fetching approx 3000 records- the total amount of data available in the InfoCube.

Is there a limit on the number of records. Does the Crystal Reports 2008 has any service pack to be installed for MDX driver support?

Please clarify.

Hi Amogh,

can you please start the transaction SM59 on your SAP BW system, expand the TCP/IP connections and check if the MDX Parser is available? If it is, double-click on this entry and do a connection test. What's the result?

Hi,

Results as under:

Action............................ Result

Logon.............................. 108 msec

Transfer of 0 KB............ 0 msec

Transfer of 10 KB.......... 2 msec

Transfer of 20 KB.......... 3 msec

Does this signify any issue ?

Hi,

can you please use the Database Menu in the CR Designer in order to extract the MDX statement ( Show SQL Query.. ) and then go over to your SAP BW system and test it using the MDXTEST transaction? Do you get any data there?

Stratos
