Query Output to CSV file

Former Member

Hi,

I am trying to export a Query result to CSV in comma-delimited tab format.

In SBO it is allowing to save the query results as CSV file; but when I opened

it is in 'Text Unicode' filetype.

Is there anyway save it directly as CSV in comma-delimited tab format.

Thanks Regards

Shiva

Actually, I believe this problem is related to your Windows environment. B1 will save the export file to CSV format by default. However, it must use the OS level dll to achieve it. You may try on other workstations to see if you could save to CSV files.

Hi Gordon

I have the same problem here, where by my queries dont output to CSV automatically, even when I save as .csv it still doesn't work. I found SAP Note 1248146 but it's not very clear... I can not find the 'edit' 'export to excel' you help a bit more please?

Many thanks,

Caroline

Could you post your query here so that might shed lights to your problem. By default, B1 is always saving exported file as CSV file automatically.

Thanks,

Hi Gordon,

Sorry could not reply soon.

Its a smiple query

"SELECT ItemCode, ItemName, ItmsGrpNam,

LeadTime, VATLiable, CardCode"

The things is we might make some changes to it based on customer requirement. But the fact is no matter what query, I have no problem with query. It is while saving it is making a 'tab-delimited' file rather than 'comma-delimited file'. User has to manually open it and save it as CSV file.

Hi Shiva,

Why don't you save the txt file option? Save that Query result to txt file format and then open with CSV format.

Madhan.

Hi!

1. Export the file

2. save as .csv

3. you should use double quotes on front and back of the file name ex: "Inventory.csv"

4. Save it like this.

5. Now it will be in csv format.

Hi Thanga,

I tired you're method as well, but unfortunately it is not working.

Is there any reason why SBO is not saving the file as CSV even though we

save it as such in the 'Save As' window ??

While Exporting it asks to save the file. There only you have to give the .extention so that it will get saved in CSV or whatever format you want.

Else Do one thing.......

When you save during export, it will get saved in text format. Later open that text file in XL and then do save as and give ext as CSV. IT can be worked. just check but I'm not sure.

Yes but that will be a long process for the user to do every day. This query is part of data transformation to be done tp a third-party by the client. This is not part of the day-to-day job for the employees. So is there any quicker way to accomplish this.
