Reports Stuck in Running Status

Former Member

We are having a problem where reports are stuck in running status. When looking on the server, the reports stuck in running status taking up a "jobserverchild" process, and does not complete.

Has anyone experienced this issue, and how we can resolve it?

Version 3.1, Fix Pack 1.6

If we rerun in InfoView, sometimes the report will run, sometimes it will not.

the problem is intermittent.

Hi,

what kind of data sources? (version number will be great). Which version of the CR designer did you build your reports with? Have you tried running the reports directly in the CR designer? Do you get any errors there?

You can do the below:

1. Check if the report is working fine when refreshed in crystal report designer.

2. Check if the crystal report job server and report application server is working fine or not.

3. Check if some other crystal report is successfully scheduling. If that is the case then there is a problem in the report itself.

4. Check the database connection for the report.

Ok - here we go - we have been experiencing this issue for the longest time - it looks like we have found the culprit:

1) Check the default printer of the report developer who placed this report into Enterprise.

2) Ensure that exact same driver is on the Business Objects Server.

3) Report should schedule fine.

Another option is to set "No Printer" within the report design itself by clicking on File > Page Setup. This way there is no dependency on printer drivers.

Thank you Past Troy, this can still be an issue even now in BI4.0 i was just going mental wondering why some seemingly normal reports using exactly the same connections as other suddenly started getting stuck at running and clogging up my whole damn system. I have no idea what happened to the printer drivers on our server or if we even had any but the File > Page Setup No printer thing has fixed it up good!
