Hi,
the GUID (Global Unique Identifier) is used as a unique ID for identification documents or master data in SRM. A specific GUID is only once given in the life time of the system because this must be unique.
It's never displayed on the Browser, it's only used used by the system.
For example in the customizining "Define product categories for backend systems" you only see the name of the logical system and the product category ID, but in the table BBP_DET_LOGSYS the system combines this information with the GUID, and internally only the GUID is used.
Other use of GUID you can also find in the transaction BBP_PD.
