Embedded attachment in a document is not able to open

hi All,

Iam facing a very critical problem.

we are in the process of migrating documents from LN to Solution manager.

There are so many documents wherein we have embedded attachments in a document is not getting displayed in the display mode.

it was getting opened only in the edit mode.

is there any authorization that we can give so that the embedded attachements in a document is getting opened in read mode...

but only readable they should not be able to edit the attachment.

kindly share your valuable advices in this regard.

We are having the same problem with the most recent SM 7.1 SP03 release. We can only view embedded documents (e.g., an Excel file document embedded in our Word document functional design specification. Surely there is a way (security role or IMG setting) to allow viewing of embedded documents without having each user get into EDIT mode. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

As originally reported on this thread, you can only see an Office 'icon' in the document unless you get into edit mode. Once you are in edit mode, the embedded document is no longer just an 'icon', you can click on it to view the embedded Excel or PowerPoint document.

Hi Naveen,

Documnet is getting opened.

but the embedded document is like an image only. it is not opening.

we could able to copy it and paste in local desktop.

but it does not help for all the attachments.

it will be very helpful if we could dispaly the embedded attachemnt in read only mode. when we open the parent document in display mode.
