Hi Sreekanthkalli,

The Upgrade usually starts with upgrading the sandbox system followed by development, quality, Mocks and finally real production server.

The activities to be performed for the Upgrade of production system comes under cut-over activities.

Broadly it has following activities -

1. System Refresh from production system to TEMP system.

2. Upgrade of TEMP system.

3. Running scans on TEMP system.

4. Create TWIN transport.

5. Running PREPARE on production system (Uptime activity)

6. Running Upgrade on production system (Till downtime phase MODPROFP_TRANS)

4. Business Ramp Down

8. Any other servers connected to production server has to be shutdown - This is also called as Isolation Phase.

9. Make sure that we have one successfull backup before downtime

10. Start the downtime activities and complete the Upgrade.

11. Post Upgrade tasks including Add-On Install and SGEN execution.

12. Prepare the system for Export. Import the TWIN TR from TEMP system

13. Install ECC on the new production hardware

14. Start Export-Import parallely.

15. When Import finished continue with sapinst including Central Instance Install.

16. Post Import ECC tasks

17. Install Application servers

18. Adapt the SAP and ORACLE profiles for the all the CI and DI

19. STMS and domain controller configuration

20. PtP activities including impot of various transports

21. Cluster testing and failover testing

22. Controlled Business Startup

23. Full Business startup

Except these also we used to build one more refrence system so that in case of fallbck we can use that system.

Please let me know if you need any more details.
