serial number

Hi

while transfer posting the material from storage location to storage location, system is asking to enter serial number.

but for the existing stock for the material there are no serial numbers maintained.

becasue of the recent changes to materal serial number profile, now it is mandatory to eneter serial number.

How to resolve this issue?

There is work around for this Pl try if suitable for your requirement

Go to MM02 (material change) modify the profile to 0002 - Complete your transaction - Restore the normal profile once your activity completed.

Pl note that other transaction with this material at this time will get affected

Hi,

You have to deactivate the serial number profile in material master under the tab of Sales general plant data / plant data stor 2 tab ,changed the serial number profile to Z002 and ser level has no values.Once the goods movement is done ,put the serial number profile back to Z001.

After the serial number profile has been entered in Material Master, the system prompts for the serial number for all material movements.

I think there is a customizing setting through which you can set the serial number requirement as optional. This way you will not be required to enter serial number for stock transfers of existing materials.
