At the time, not all versions were supported.
Anyhow, the official supported versions have to be 7.6.4.x or higher - so 7.6.5.x from the SDN Download will be perfectly supported with VM scenarios.
Since then , I have MaxDB 188.8.131.52 running in virtualized systems.
