Hi Swapna,

As explained  in the above replies, please configure Label sizes, label stocks etc. You need to mention the "Specify labelling scenarios" the business process for which the labelling is required. You can use the same FM's in the screen sequence. Also it is possible to add any default symbols in the scenarios.

If you are going for any customizing, better create a new symbol group( with a new FM) and add the symbols to be appended from your user entries  in the program.

As for barcode, there is standard program for barcode conversion, copy and modify as per your needs for the check digits etc. The barcode automation fonts to be installed in the front end as well as in WWI. once done check in your template if the barcode fonts can be selected.

Master data - Label view material master ( add the generation variant, label size ,no of labels etc). Use the configuration to activate the label for different units of measure. Thanks- George

Hi George Ainiveettil..!

"As for bar code, there is standard program for bar code conversion, copy and modify as per your needs for the check digits etc."..Can you explain in detail or give example..? In sap help it is mentioned that, C128_DUMMY_CONVERSION_METHOD has to be used as a model for bar code conversion.

I have installed Bar code font(code 128) at both WWI server & front end. But don't know what exactly has to be programmed in FM for conversion.

Dear Swapna,

You could try getting the below documentation which gives a standard step to create labels in the classic EHS environment.

866_ERP605_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_US

991_ERP605_Global Label Management (991)

991_ERP605_Global Label Management.ppt(991)

Dear all

the topic of "Bar Code" etc. and use in context of GLM is discussed regular in this FORUM. E.g. Check: http://scn.sap.com/thread/3307489

http://scn.sap.com/thread/1857104

http://scn.sap.com/thread/3295344

and many other threads dealing either with GLM direct or with Bar Code printing issue in GLM

To my knowledge: there is no good standard documentation available (e.g. Best Practise).

Hi everyone,

significant enhancements for GLM are delivered in ERP 6.0 EhP7 (and downported to EhP6 SP08 / EhP5 SP11).

There will be a lot of  new documentation available for the new and old GLM processes.

I don't know when the new documentation will be released, maybe in October 2013.

It should become available on https://service.sap.com/rkt

hi

Over and above what is explained, there are certain customizing setting also required to be done in Material management module related to SAP-GLM.

Please refer customizing activity : Set Up Label Data Entry in Material Master under EHS-> Product safety -> GLM.

Niraj

Dear Subash

sorry. The link seems to be outdated. may be check as an alternative:

http://help.sap.com/saap/sap_bp/EHS_ERP605_CN/HTML/Content_Library_EHSM_EN_CN.htm

or

PS: Be aware of the fact that these "ConfigGuides" only take care regarding "Classic" EHS Management and not the new "Component Extenstion" solution part.

Hello

SAP GLM is part of SAP EH&S. To use SAP EH&S GLM you need to do some set up in these areas (list not complete !):

- Document Management System

- EH&S Product Safety

- Generation of symbols to be used in WWI

- set up of GLM WWI (separate generartion server)

- etc.

It is possible to print bar codes in EH&S SAP GLM (it is a matter of fonts etc.). This is a "must" for nearly any company who would like to use EH&S GLM. PLease refer to EH&S GLM documentation.

Most of the staff needed can be searched for at SAP links like:

http://help.sap.com/bestpractices/BBLibrary/HTML/H43_EHS_EN_DE.htm

http://help.sap.com/bp_chem603/.../857_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_DE.doc

http://help.sap.com/bp/initial/index.htm

http://help.sap.com/content/bestpractices/scenarioscope/industry/How_to_order_ext_EN.ppt.

Take a look here too:

http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/a7/288aa30a6c11d28a220000e829fbbd/frameset.htm (topicGlobal Label Management): You will find some words regarding integration of SAP EH&S GLM in EH&S and SAP.

Hope that helps

with best regards
