BOXIR2 WebI Sch Error-SMTP_E_TCPSOCKET_RECV(4) & SMTP_E_TCPSOCKET_SEND(3)

Hi,

We have scheduled some BO WebI reports to e-mail destinations.

Normally they schedule successfully, however sometimes they fail giving below error messages:

write error. CrystalEnterprise.Smtp:> SMTP_E_TCPSOCKET_RECV(4)

write error. CrystalEnterprise.Smtp:> SMTP_E_TCPSOCKET_SEND(3)

We have verified login details of SMTP server and it is correct.

These errors appear intermittently, so we are not able to identify root cause of the same.

Please assist on this issue as early as possible because we need to fix the issue urgently.

Thanks & Regards,

Amit Soni

Hi,

do you have a cluster installation?

Hi Stratos,

No, We do not have cluster installation, moreover all BO services have been installed on a single machine, but SMTP server is hosted on a different server.

We get these types of error randomly on different reports at different times.

Amit

Hi

do you have more than one webi job server and destination servers defined?

This error may also have to do with the fact that the network connection between your BO and your SMTP server is temporarily not available. Maybe you can check this by using an SMTP test utility.

Hi,

We have only one WebI Job server and Destination job server.

Connection between BO and SMTP server works fine normally.

Even after one request failed with mentioned errors, other schedule requests get successful which are scheduled seconds/minutes before or after the failed one.

This wierd behavior is giving us trouble since we are not able to pinpoint whether this is a BO or SMTP or Network issue. SMTP logs also don't provide any useful details.

Thanks & Regards,

Amit
