Moving average price in Material Master

Former Member

Hello,

I am trying to find how the moving average price of a material is calculated. I know with every GR and IR the price changes. However wanted to know how much in the past does the moving average price refer to. eg, does the moving average price consider all the transactions for the material from the date the material is created or is it refreshed every year?

Thanks for your answers

moving average price is equal to total value divided by total quantity at a point of time. It takes IR price.

It will be recalculated for every goods movement. may increase of stock or decrease of stock.

Hello Chakrapani,

Thanks for your response. There are two questions :

1) If the price control indicator in the material master is maintained as "S", would the moving average price in the material master be updated in the same way (with every GR and IR)

2) I have got materials with zero units and zero value which still have a MAP. If MAP is total stock/total units, how can they still have MAP in the material master.

Thanks

1) yes

2) the moving average price does not go to zero if the stock becomes zero.

it is like it was, just there for information. it does not impact the price calculation of next goods receipt as old price muliplied with old quantity of zero has zero as result. so the new MAP is only calculated from the new receipt in case he stock was zero.

We are having issues with the MAP going to zero after GI and Inventory becomes zro or Decimal value. See the example data below from report S_P00_07000139:
