Hi,

I'm trying to manually install the crystal report print control active x file. After righ-clicking to install the printcontrol.inf file, i got the following error message; "The INF you selected does not support this method of installation" Any idea why I could not install?

I am running Windows Vista and have local admin rights.

Thanks in advance.

What version of CR are you using?

Are you developing a .NET app? If so, what version of .NET?

What OS are you attempting to do this on?

Finally, why are you trying to manually install the print control?

Hi,

I actually wanted to deploy the Crystal Report Print Control active x to users who do not have the local admin rights to install the add-on on Windows. Understand now that I would need to deploy through a msi package.

Would you know where I could download a crystal print control msi package?

There is no "crystal print control msi package" as such. The print control is installed as part of the msm / msi runtime files. The print control is then downloaded and installed on first use.

If your users do not have admin privileges, the install of the print control (and any other ActiveX components) will be terminated. You will have to use a 3rd party tool like Microsoft SMS to push the files needed to the clients. Unfortunately, I don't have any detailed info on how this needs to be done. Perhaps a question for MS(?).

We too need to push this to non-admin users. If you could provide a list of files that are required, and the destination directory(-ies) for each, we could build our own MSI, and/or push each file individually.

Would that be possible?

I would also like to know how to manually install the print control. I need to install this for two terminal servers and it is not prompting me to do the install automatically the first time. It just hangs. I need a way of manually installing the print control.

Umm, when I enter the following search terms in the search box at the top right corner of this web page:

print control activex crystal net

I get the following KB:

[1645006 - How to install the Crystal Reports ActiveX Print Control manually?|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333633343335333033303336%7D.do].

See if that helps. Note that since you do not mention version of CR, the KB may not be specific to your version of CR, but it should point you in the right direction, no matter what the version.

Moving to .NET SDK forum. May get a reply from here easier than Report Design Forum. More of a deployment question than design.
