Asset shut down process

Hi

To close the depreciation on certain assets, i checked the shut down indicator on Asset master with a time interval and changed the key to 0000. However, if i do this system shows planned depreciation for the following mnonth and posts it.

E.g. Asset acquired on 01.01.2010. Depreciation ran for Jan, 2010. Asset shut down indicator checked and depreciation key changed to 0000 on 01.02.2010. After doing this when i check the Asset explorer, system shows planned depreciation for Feb 2010 and posts it at AFAB. I expect the system to stop depreciation from 01.02.2010 onwards. Any suggestions

Thanks

Shiv

If you want to dtope asset depreciation you just need to check the shutdown indicator. Also you may have to check if the shutdown indicator is selected in th dep key been used. Also note when you replace it with Dep Key 0000 normaly shutdown indicator is ticked as no. Check Tcode AFAMA dep key defination

Hi

Thanks for the response. I did exactly the same what you mentioned but this is what happened

Capitalized on 01.01.2010, APC - 100000, Dep - 4% SLM

01, 2010 - Dep posted - 333.33

02, 2010 - Dep posted - 333.33

Asset marked for shut down on 01.03.2010, dep key changed to 0000

03, 2010 - When i run dep program, system reverses the depreciation posted earlier in the current year (666.66)

04, 2010 - No depreciation posted

05, 2010 - No depreciation posted

Shur down indicator removed and depreciation key changed to original

06, 2010 - Dep posted till date for the current year (Period 01 to Period 05 - 1666.65

1. Is it possible to stop system reversing the depreciation which it did in period 03, 2010 in above example?

2. Also ist it possible to stop posting the depreciation retrospectivley from the beginning of the year and just calculate it from the period since when asset is unchecked for depreciation. Period 06, 2010 in above case should only post depreciation of 333.33 instead of full year depreciation of 1666.65

I think option 2 is doable if we change the the Depreciation start date to current date in the asset master

Thanks

Hi

Yes, it is all possible.

In the time dependent tab, click further interval.

Select the time period for which you want to shut down the asset.

Cheers
