When running UJD_TEST_PACKAGE, I get a short dump.
No more storage space available for extending an internal table.
Other keywords are CL_SHM_AREA and ATTACHUPDATE70.
When I looked at NOTES, I found this Note 928044 - BI lock server". Looking at the note and debugging UJD_TEST_PACKAGE leaves me some questions:
1. Do I need a BI lock server?
2. Should I change the enque/table_size setting be increased on the central instance from 10000 to 25000 or larger?
Am I going down the right path?
Yes, the TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED means that there is a memory issue. The package size in your BPC package should be set to 40000 or something like this. If it is not set, then you may run into these memory issues. Please make sure that this value is set in the process variant.
I don't think package size is your problem then. Not sure what the issue could be. Notice that there is a thread at the top of this forum specifically for this how-to guide. Check this thread and see if there are any others that have run into the same problem.
I'm looking at Note 928044 - BI lock server and Note 1322182 - Memory consumption of ABAP Shared Objects. I know the first note refers to the predecessors of BPC (BI Integrated Planning and BW Business Planning and Simulation), but it looks like it is using the same code.
Yes. Chris and Zane confirmed my original suspicion that this has something to do with locking with either enque or shared memory. As per their insight, restarting fixed the issue. However, we may need to bump up parameter abap/shared_objects_size_MB. It is currently defaulted to 20, but Note "928044 - BI lock server" says to set to 200. Probably, I need to understand more on how to use SHMM to set it appropriately. Also, if it happens again, it appears we can clear the locks per Note 1322182 "Memory consumption of ABAP Shared Objects". SAP needs to provide docs on SHMM, RSPLSE and BPC.
