Functional location structure

Hello Gurus,

As we have some "-" in old equipments which will be a part of floc in SAP, we preferred to use "/" indicator as a seperator.

so that they can keep their "-" in floc and can be strcutured like AA/234/23-45. but now we got a problem in defining the structure usin "/" indiacator when the equipment numbers not reached to its max limit..lets say strcuture 1st level - 2 digits,2nd level 4 digits , 3rd level 10 digits and 4th level 6 digits. When you create a FLOC , system expects to fulfill all the max digits on each levels ..if my 3rd level has only 5 digits and tried to go with 4th level using "/"..it is not accepting and says place the cursor to the right point. I tried with S option too to handle this but does not help me.

Only way I find using "-" ..is there any other way to handle this ?

Mahee,

Have you considered using spaces in the fourth level to fill the gap? That's one way of handling your issue while keeping the same structure. You will have to investigate proper design of FL structure indicator if this doesn't satisfy your needs.

Yeh..I tried with leaving the spaces on the remaining digits but it looks ugly visually ...In my investigation..only "-" works as a seprator as system accepts it as a digit.

Mahee,

If its visually not pleasing, then you would have to go back to the drawing board and redesign the FL structure indicator taking these into consideration.

Yes..I am going to redesign with "-" seperator but only think going in my mind is to convince the business to remove the "-" in their old equipments to avoid confusion.
