LDAP with BPC for MS

Can SAP BPC 7.0 MS use LDAP for authentication? If it can't, do we need to install active directory and can that be installed on any BPC Servers (considering a multi-server environment).

I saw in another post that LDAP may be supported for ver 7.5, is this still the case?

As far I know, BPC 7.0 both MS or NW doesn't support LDAP (not the Win active directory).

Start from BPC 7.5 both MS and NW support LDAP via Central Management System (CMS).

HI Tim,

Yes LDAP can be used trough SAP BP CMS (BO authentication).

That's means all the users has to be imported into CMS and after that BPC is using for authentication BO certificate to authenticate to CMS.

So you have also SSO.

You don't need Active directory in this case.

Any way BPC is still working also with Microsoft Active directory without CMS but you have to decide what kind of authentication satisfy better customer requirements.

You can use or Microsoft Active Directory or CMS but you cannot use both in the same time.

Thanks for the thorough answers, one last point on the subject. In a multi-server environment, with SAP BPC 7.5 (MS) is there still a need for Active directory (MS domain users) to install the software, or can everything be handled by Bus Objects CMS (incl. system admin install users).

ie if there is no active directory whatsoever, can SAP BPC 7.5 be installed on a multiserver environment.

Hi,

About the BOE XI Authentication (with LDAP Plugin) : Just an important hint that you should consider. The BPC expert may not be a BOE XI / UMS expert and so make sure to have both competencies in your project. Otherwise you will face big difficulty in installing and setuping BOE XI software.

We are currently having issue on this for other EPM project which are using more and more the BOE XI Enterprise repository.
