TREX Indexable properties

Former Member

Hi Experts,

Documents have a standard pre-defined properties that are indexable by TREX such as Document name, date modified by, and full-text search (text search within document). Can I modify this and remove full-text search as an indexable property?

Thanks,

zhenmin

Hi BP,

In other words, this cannot be achieved via simple configuration and customization is required to achieve this?

THanks,

Hi BP,

I understand the capability of TREX but it doesn't mean we do not intend to use text mining entirely. We're only doing so for identified data sources.

Thanks,

Hello,

[TREX Additional Properties|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/73/66c090acf611d5993700508b6b8b11/frameset.htm]

We can have the option of [IPropertyManager Search API|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/5d0ab890-0201-0010-849d-98d70bd1d5f0?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true] which involves creating a search UI completely with custom coding and not interfering with TREX. Refer page number 60 of the document.

Hi BP,

Thanks for the informative link! While it does show how we can prevent it from being searchable when search is executed by the user, we're looking to even prevent it from being indexed. Reason is we're looking to reduce the indexing time as this may have impact on performance of the servers due to the volume of documents we need to index. Thus, we're thinking that by not indexing it would help reduce overal time to index. Is this possible?

THanks,

zhenmin

Hi,

If TREX is not doing text mining, what is the whole point of having Text Retrieval and information EXtraction (TREX)?
