OpenDocument from SAP CRM system -issues

Former Member

Hi,

we are trying to use OpenDocument from SAP CRM Application and getting the error "invalid Viewer".

We want to open the webi reports in a new window when user clicks on hyperlink (Opendoc url for a webi report) from CRM homepage.

Workflow:

1. user login into SAP CRM application

2.From the homepage clicks URL (opendocument URL)

3.New window opens for him and he enters user id/password (SSO is not setup)

4.users gets error "Invalid URL"

The same opendoc url works fine out side the CRM Application.

We want to make use of opendocument functionality from CRM system without configuring SSO between BO & SAP CRM & EP and we can't use 'iViews" as per the business requirements.

What's the solution in this case? can some one help?

Thanks,

DJ

Hi,

so the opendocument URL does work outside of CRM ?

but you also mentioned you want to configure it without SSO ? so how will the user then authenticate ?

Ingo,

OpenDocument does work out side CRM application.

We are using LDAP authentication for OpenDocument. Users will use their LDAP id/pwd for login into BOE.

We can't use SAP authentication as we don't have the user id created in BW with proper roles. We are using "generic id" to access to the data from BW for the reports.

So, the easiest way for the CRM users to access the reports with out login into Infoview portal is, to access them via openDocument which is failing.

Any ideas? I appreciate your help.

Hi,

your CRM user is not an LDAP user - its an SAP account.

Ingo,

That's correct. But we don't want the user session (CRM SAP user) to be passed on to BOE.

We just want use OpenDocument as a hyperlink from CRM.

Is it a must to configure opendocument with SAP authentication and setup SSO between CRM and OpenDocument to access the reports from CRM system?

Please advise

Hi,

if you don't configure SSO for BusinessObjects to be able to leverage the token the user will always get asked to authenticate manually and will also be asked to authenticate when calling the report.

Ingo,

That's correct, we want the user to enter id/password.

And after entering the user id/pwd, we are getting the error "Invalid Viewer" ? We are thinking it's because of cookies

Summary: OpenDoc url works out side the CRM app (after entering user/pwd)

same OpenDoc fails when invoked from CRM application with an error "Invalid Viewer" after entering id/pwd.

thanks,

assuming you didn't configure OpenDoc to leverage any token then it can't be the reason

Is there an Opendoc configuration that we need to do so that we don't have to hardcode the server and port information for the BOBJ links in the landscape inorder to view in CRM portal.

Please advice.

Thanks
