Trying to install Business Objectx XI R2.
Host is a Dell E5520 Intel Xeon CPU @ 2.27 GHz 2 processors
Running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit OS
Toward the end of the install I get this message:
"Error 1920. Service 'Event Server' (BOBJEventServer) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
Choose to let the installer install its own Tomcat and MySQL servers.
When I first got access to this host, I installed a 64-bit JRE. Just found out that the BOXI software is 32-bit. Could it be failing due to the 64-bit Java or is a 32-bit Java installed during the process?
Any ideas?

Just checked my Win 2008 account and it says that I'm an Administrator. I've installed apps to Services and started and stopped them before.
Hi Mario,
You are installing onto an unsupported platform. Please know that XIR2 is the previous version so if you are wanting to use a cutting edge OS, you should use the latest product (XI3.1). Alternatively, you could install onto an older OS. Here are the supported server operating systems for XIR2 SP6 on Windows:
Server
u2022 Windows 2000 SP4 Advanced Server
u2022 Windows 2000 SP4 Datacenter Server
u2022 Windows 2000 SP4 Server
u2022 Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition (1)
u2022 Windows Server 2003 SP1 (1)
u2022 Windows Server 2003 SP2 (1)
(1) 32-bit and 64-bit O/S editions supported.

http://service.sap.com/patches
Then select Support Packages and Patches - Entry by Application Group on the left side.
Next choose SAP BusinessObjects portfolio.
Then choose SBOP ENTERPRISE.
Finally, choose BOBJ ENTERPRISE XI 3.1 and you are there.
Doesn't show SBOP ENTERPRISE under SAP BusinessObjects portfolio.
I wonder if we purchased the wrong package. I'll have to check with my manager.
Thanks for the info.
Do you know off-hand if the R3.1 version will work with Win 2008 R2 specifically?
Another thread said that Win 2008 R2 wasn't supported but it was over a year old.
I now see that either XI 3.1 SP3 is out or very near to release. Here is the support for that version:
Server
Windows Server 2003 SP2 (1) (2)
Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 (1) (2)
Windows Server 2008 (1) (2)
Windows Server 2008 SP2 (1) (2)
Windows Server 2008 R2 (2) (3)
(1) 32-bit and 64-bit O/S editions supported
(2) Data Center Edition, Enterprise Edition, Standard Edition, Web Edition
(3) 64-bit O/S editions supported.
Thanks for all the help people!
