Dear All,
What are the advantage or disadvantage of implementing IASP in any production server without implementing high availability solution.
Best Regards,
Independen ASPs are used in order to allow switching the ASP between hosts, usually for high availability purposes. If you are not planning to make the ASP switchable, then there is no reason to configure an independent ASP, except maybe for test purposes (i.e. on your test system if your production system uses iASP).
The disadvantage of configuring an independent ASP is that you have to split your available disk storage into at least two parts: The System ASP (for temporary storage) and the independent ASP (for the database and some other stuff). This resquires a little more planning than having all your data in one ASP.
Kind regards,
Christian Bartels.

What you'll get is another database, an independent ASP adds a remote DB to your system.
If you ínstall the iASP on an external storage device like an IBM DS8000 you could use features like flashcopy what would make your system backup routine a lot easier.
If you plan to move to an HA solution later on you can always move your system to the iASP when the need arises. There is no penality for not having installed the system directly on the iASP.
Hope this helps
Kind regards
Bjoern
