Hello Experts,

Need one help regarding the history of lock entries.

We have a requirement from the customer to provide the details like which all objects are locked by which all resources and the time stamp info also if possible.

Believe that this information will be stored in some of the tables.

Kindly let me know if somebody can provide any info regarding this.

Thanks & Regads,

Abin

Hi,

SAP enque mechanism uses a shared memory rather than a database table for holding lock details. This details are flushed during a restart. Enque uses work process traces for minor logging details and hence a centralized complete history of enque logging is not possible. However you can obtain the following information :

A) SM12 choose the menu option Extras > Top Capacity Used> Current ,History

Last 10 lock table overflows is saved:

· The three lock owners with the most locks

· The three lock arguments with the most locks

B) You may activate enque logging as mentioned in SAP Note 125041 - Analysis of enqueue errors with enqueue logging .

  • NOTE: Logging should be performed only for short periods *

SAP Standalone enque servers logs much more details nevertheless even then a complete history of lock entries is not possible.

For a complete understanding of SAP Lock management and logging you may refer to the following:
