Unlocking documents

Hi,

sometimes sourcing documents (projects) get locked for no reason. You can unlock them by creating a script that executes when opening the project.

When going to the 'security profiles' (system administrator) and select the rights of the 'superuser', there is something called: ' Break document locks'

Anyone's got an idea how it works? I think you can also use it to unlock documents instead of writing a script.

Thnx,

Bram

indeed you can also use it to unlock documents instead of writing a script : only avaialble for the selected profile lke "system administrator".

And how can you unlock these documents? We activated this right but how can we then unlock the documents? I think there will be a button or something inside the project but we cannot find it...

Hi Bram ,

Thanks for your reply . For my applciaiton , some random Contract agreements are getting locked with message as "Locked by System Daemon for time being " . Contract will be in un-editable mode . I tried by Break Document Lock button . No use . IS your issue similar or different

Yes indeed, I have the same problem with the 'Projects'. However, there is no button available to break the documents...

Hi,

if you have Break Document Locks Rights, there will not be a button that says Break Document Lock.

If this is for a contact document, for example, which is locked, you will have an Edit button - that's it. It is not very obvious, but essentially that's it.

The user who has that right has edit buttons where other users have not.

Hi Bram,

When you have Break document locks security rights you can break the document lock which is editing by some one at the same time.

Example if one user editing the Contract at the same time another person want to edit at that time if the user have "Break document locks" security rights then the user can break the locked by some and can edit at the same time.

Break document lock button will be available under Document tab, please see below screen shot for your reference.

I hope  this gives you clear idea on Break document locks security right.

Lava.
