We have an issue on Batch field in Li11n.
we have created Inventory document and already activated. But the bin is actually empty. Which is why, the material did not pick up the batch number and the batch field is empty. but the field is grayed out. We need to know on how we should enable the field for us to be able to FILL in the BATCH number together with the COUNT before we save.
have sap notes for this? or we do this in customizing?
any help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks to you all wonderful people

the batch field is automatically enabled if your material is batch managed .

thanks Jurgen. the material is batched enabled. it picks up the batch number if another bin is being used. but the field is GRAYED OUT still. plus the BIN we specified is actually empty, no materials in it. we just want to put a batch number in it, and that this field in suposed to be not grayed out. Because in doing Li11n, only the counter and the count field is fillble, other fields are all grayed out. the client wants the field, fillable too.
i dont understand what is an unexpected material.
this is the case. Plant 001 has warehouse and 2 bins ( 1 and 2)
material 1 has 100 unit in bin1 but is transferred to bin2. bin1 now has zero material.
material 1 is batched managed.
client created an inventory doc of bin 1 and has this activated in Li01n and Li0n respectively.
in doing the Li11n, the bin1 didnt pick any batch, the batch field is blank. as in normal Li11n, batch and material fields are all grayed out, we can only enter counter field and count field.
but the client wants the material and batch field be editable instead of the default of graying out.
the want to know how is this doable . through config? or sap notes? or anything to make it work.
thanks.
this is not possible at all.
They are supposed to count what the document shows. if they dont find it, then they have to record zero. if they find a different batch, then they have to add this count with goto > new entries.
this is what physical inventory is all about. verifying that your books are accurate. if you manage your materials at batch level, then they have to be accurate at batch level.
it is greyed because that is what is on the books, and you just enter what you found physically to exact this item.
