Hello Spool,
Imagine a scenario of a Large company where there are hundreds of users taking Print-outs of various data from SAP (E.g. Invoices, Credit Memo's, Paking List, Delivery Confirmation, Ledger Balances, Stock transfer receipts, etc...)
Now the above outputs can be in various forms - Prints, PDF, Email etc... Also some of the Output need to be generates immediately, some at a scheduled time...
Thus SAP needs to manage, keep a track of all these output requests.
This is done thru Spool (T-Code - SP01). Each output request (be it Print, Email or PDF) is assigned a unique number & it is tracked based on this number.
Thus you can manage, know of the status, re-issue, delete output request in Spool facility.
You will understand it better if you access T-Code SP01, give a user ID & Date range & execute...
Hope this clarifies...
Thanks,

The results are transferred to a spool, which you can then review using SP01 transaction.
This is useful especially for background processing to get the output results.
