J2ee engine startup error- cant attach shared memory

Antarpreet Bajaj
Currently Being Moderated

Hello Experts,

We have upgraded ERP abap+java to EHP4 but J2ee engine is not coming up. It is giving the following errors. There are no issues on the abap side.

Bootstrap logs are fine and are able to syncronize.

Following is the dev_jcontrol log.

    Hi Antarpreet,

this is the issue:"=> Can't attach to message server (aeerpdv1/3601) [rc = -20]-> reconnect "

It could be a network problem or the SCS is not running.

    Regards

    Franz

      Hello Franz,

      Thanks for your reply.

The SCS instance is running fine and I could see the message server and enqueue processes.

Is there some network commands through which we could confirm that this is a Network issue. Please advise.

      Thanks,

      Antarpreet

          Hello Sunny,

          Thanks for your help.

All the other relavant logs look fine to me. The default traces of server0, server1 are not being populated. Niether is there any change in dispatcher and bootstrap logs.

        Hello All,

Could it be a memory allocation error? Can we change some memory heapsize parameters and try? Also, I have done a reboot but it did not make any change.

        Regards,

        Antarpreet

    Hello,

Since release 7.00, the message server and the enqueue server connection are not taken from the instance.proeprties file anymore, but from the  SAP profile. Check that the default profile DEFAULT.PFL is incomplete,  the Java-related entries may be missing:

    j2ee/scs/host =

Is j2ee/ms/port set here as value 3601 as per the error message?  Is this correct ? Check the message server port that appears in the SCS  instance.

    Regards,

    Désiré

    Hello,

Ensure that the port parameter is set. Also check the following SAP note regarding missing paramters for the

    WAS java: 741289

Many thanks for your help, now the SDM process is coming up but the Server processes and Dispatcher are dying out.

I get the following log in DEV_DISPATCHER and default trace:

Fatal: Cannot attach to the Message Server. Cannot attach to message server, because the version of the message server is outdated and does not support the current handshake protocol..

      Thanks a Lot.

        Hello Désirée,

I have changed the following parameters

But still I am getting the following error

        Loading: ClusterManager returned false!

Please let me know in case there is any discrepancy? Also, what should be the value for rdisp/msserv in DV2_SCS01_aeerpdv1 (either 0 or 3601)

        Any suggestions.

        Regards,

        Antarpreet
