I am trying to understand what authorization roles I need in SAP Portal?
Is there a developer role, or SAP_ALL equivelant for the portal?
What auhtorization should a developer have?
Hi,
there are several administrator roles in portal side
Content administration: deals with portal content relates to administrator's role
System Administration: deals with portal display, connection with other systems, cache issues
User Administration: creating users assigning different roles.
these 3 comes with Super administrator role and related to administration purpose and some times developers also.
NWDI administrator; To work with NWDI in portal (access) for developers.
J2EE administrator : gives access to web dynpro console.dealing with JCO connections
GP administrator: to those working with work flow in portal .
some more roles are there in portal for developers which are related to above and assigned according to the requirement
regards
Mahesh

Hi Dave,
A standard portal developer may need "CONTENT ADMINISTRATOR" role if you want to restrict only to portal content development.
Portal Administrator may need "CONTENT ADMIN","USER ADMIN" and "SYSTEM ADMIN". you can give all this 3 roles individually or can give "SUPER ADMINISTRATOR" or you can add users to "ADMINISTRATORS" group also.
