Hi
1)In your system go to Start >>run >>enter services.msc >> ok . You will get services window. check the status of the services SAPDB WWW, SAPDB,SAPDBXIE,saposcol are started. If not, double click the service and press start.
2) you have to enter your system ipaddress and name of your system

Open services MMC at the server by clicking Start >> run >> services.msc and look for saposcol check status, if it's not started just right click and press start.
"i have add 127.0.0.1 locahost entry in drivers/etc/hosts but what do u mean by "ipaddress & name "?"
It has to have this format:
127.0.0.1 localhost

Hi
ensure that all sap services are started >> check it from SAP MMC ( it takes some time to up all services)
Try accessing http://localhost:50000/irj/portal ( try with user name & pwd : admin/admin)
cheers

Hi,
If you are able to logon to http://localhost:50000/, then the J2EE Engine is running.
For portal, use
http://localhost:50000/irj/portal
which will lead you to the welcome page of the portal.
