hi all,

i would to stop the application server in our production landscape and i got the following message

>stopsap

>no instance profile found

can anybody help me

If you used virtual hostnames during the installation you have to enter them as parameter for the command:

stopsap <virtual-hostname>

we don't use virtual hostnames.

this problem occurs today the first time.

What happens if you execute stopsap <Instance>?

Are you on UNIX? you sure you logged on as <SID>adm? and the profiles are visible and under /sapmnt/<SID>/profile.

stopsap <virtual-hostname> (worked for Me)

Hello,

I had the same problem.   Somebody mess up the /etc/host name resolution.  Check that the ping resolve the name with the correct ip address.  After fixing the commands stopsap and startsap worked.
