Hi there

Sales Order BOMS are used in Make to order scenario.

BOMS are created by T.Code CS61

Hi

JH/ Deepak,

thanks for your reply,

i wanted to know one more thing, can we maintain both BOM Usage 1 and 5 for single material code.

if i maintain 5 BOM Usage for BOM having Usage 1 , during my production order creation it will create any problem..

can we maintain..?

thanks in advance..

Hi Dear

Check out your settings which BOM usage you have exposed for MRP if it is 1 then even if you have created BOM with usage 5 it wont be considered in MRP.

Dear

Yes .You can create two different BOM with two different usage type with same material code .But , in production order createtion , BOm with usage 1 will be selected and MRP will explode the BOM for depedents for BOM usage 1 to generate the requirement for production or reserve the stock item .

However , it will worth to create BOm with Usage 3-Universal where u can use both them for two different purpose. In case BOM with usage 5 will be used for Sales and will be selected in MRP also based on OPPQ-Carry overall plant parameters for MRP - enter your plant click on BOM explosin tap and check sales order BOM/WBS BOM active or not.

Hope it helps

Dear,

if both BOM have same set of Component, Then you can create a BOM with BOM usage 3. You can use it for Both sales and production.

IF there is slight difference in Component between sale BOM and Production BOM, ( Some time, In sale BOM , Some extra Component Will be there as a Accessories or Free Items, If you procuring Laptop, Some time Pen drive is free along with the Laptop, at that time Sale BOM will Be different, Production BOM of the Laptop will be different) . At that time you need to create a two BOM, One with BOM usage 1- production , another with BOM usage 5- sales & distribution

Dear

Sales Order BOM are used in Make to Order .If you want to assemble the products and depending upon the assemblies you want to price. For eg. if the customer asks for a certain combinationa of Material A, B and C respectively, then you create a Material Master record Material D with item category group as LUMF. While the Materials A, B and C are created with standared item category groups NORM only.

Then create a sales BOM using Tcode CS01 and enter the following details:

Material : Material D

Plant : Plant in which you created the material.

BOM Usage : 5 (Sales and Distribution)

then give the Materials A, B, and C and give their respective quantities.

Before you have to create pricing condition records for Materials A, B, and C.

Then configure the item categories ( T - code : VOV4).

When processing the sales order, just give the Material D and the system will pick up the corresponding assemblies for that material and populate in the order.

The item category for the header item will be TAP and the item cateory for the items will be TAN.

In this cas the Material D is called as the higher level Item , and all the assemblies are called as the sub items. Here the subitems are relevant for pricing and delivery where as the header item is not relevant for neither pricing nor delivery. It just acts as a text item.

However , you can create Sales Order BOM by using Tcode : CS61 .Specify Sales Order, Item , Material, BOM Usage 5 in CS61 and create the same. Activate SO/WBS BOM active under BOM explosion in OMIW or OPPQ

Hi,

Sales Order BOM is used in MTO scenario where the material is manufactured for a particular customer requirement. Order BOM (CS61 - Create Order BOM) contains the list of components with the quantities required for manufacturing the Header Assembly.
