Phantom in Planning (Special Procurement Type 60)

Can anyone clarify what the purpose of Special Procurement Type 60 'Phantom in Planning' is for?  It does not appear to do anything in our system so was wondering what the actual behavior should be for this SPT.

Thanks in advance.

Dear,

Frist of all , this business requirement will come up when you have Multi level BOM structure like FERT -HALB1(Phantom)-HALB2(Phantom) where HALB1 and HALB2 will not be manufactured nor will be stored in the inventory physically but you

will interested to plan those BOM componenets till the lowest level .

More specfically , some cases you might be using this phantom assembly in more than one BOM and in some BOM you might want to create dependent requireemnts as well as plan this phantom assembly. In this situation you can use special procurement type 60 "phantom in planning" in BOM item data in BOM...this value in BOM will override the material master settings and dependent reqirements will come and phantom assembly will be planned along with components

To test this SPT , you can just create Phantom assmbly and keep SPT 60 , run MRP-md02-NETCH ,2,1,3,3,2 and check the result in MD4C .You will find HALB which is phantom did nto plan where as BOM componenets have planned till lowest level code .

Try and Check

Barbara,

Yeah, a bit obscure. It is used when you are using a non-assembly type planning strategy at FGs, and you wish to stock generic materials two levels down from the FGs, but you do not wish to stock generic product at 1 level down from FGs.

E.g., FGs and SFGs are MTO (build only after the sales order is entered) but PIRs will drive you to build the components of the SFG parts prior to the entry of the sales order.

I realize this is an old thread but I'm having the same problem with Special Procurement 60 Phantom in Planning; it does not seem to work.

Assembly PTM25252 has Special Procurement 60 and Indiv/collective indicator = 2 Collective.

Planning BOM/Material PRISMAPLUS-PM1 which is planned with Strategy 63 Planning with a Planning Material contains Assembly PTM25252.

Saleable BOM/Material PTM06112110 which is also planned with Strategy 63 points to planning Material PRISMAPLUS-PM1 and also contains Assembly PTM25252.

Based on Dogboy's Help document link (the Demand Management document), I expect Assembly PTM25252 to be planned but not made until a sales order is received for Saleable Material PTM06112110.  I expect Assembly PTM25252 to  pass requirements to lower level assemblies that will be procured prior to receipt of the sales order.

However, this is not working.  We are getting MRP exception messages telling us to convert a planned order for Assembly PTM25252 to a production order and we do not yet have a sales order for PTM06112110.

According to the Demand Management document, one big purpose of Special Procurement 60 Phantom in planning is to allow you to stock 1 or 2 levels below Finished Goods until a Sales Order is received but as described, this is not working for us.

Has anyone made this work in our scenario?

Thank you.

Hi Ann

MRP should generate VP planned orders for material PTM25252, which are not convertible.

Isn't that happening on your system?

Also, could you please open a new thread with your question?
