If you have crystal reports installed, it should be on your development computer. If you're looking for version 8.5, is will be in win\system.
Other versions of CR will have the file in different directories for side by side compatibility. You'll have to specify version of the crpe32 you are looking for.

Did you ever have any luck locating this patch?

Hello,
The [download links|http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm] that were posted previously should get you to the downloads for the fix.
The KB Article (KBA) that describes the original issue is [1214322|https://bosap-support.wdf.sap.corp/sap/support/notes/1214322] - "When an API call fails, the Crpe32.dll is creating a log file named: Event.log". According to this KBA the fix should be in Service Pack (SP) 2 for CR8.5. Some of the individual fix packs are available at the download site as well, but not all of them. It'll be easier downloading and applying SP2. The fix should also be in SP3 was well.
Go to the [Download Page|http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm]. You'll have to change the filters to:
Software Product - Crystal Reports
Product Version - * (the default wildcard option)
Software Type - Service Pack
Click through the download results until you find the download links for Crystal Reports 8.5 - Service Pack 2 and Crystal Reports 8.5 - Service Pack 3. Either one of these should resolve the issue noted in the original post.
Just FYI - very few people will open/read a forum thread that has been marked answered. There's no telling if the person who originally started this old thread is still participating in the forums. In the future you may want to start a fresh thread, adding a reference to the old thread.
Good luck!
