Hello Experts.
Hana is comming!!!!
i got some questions.
1) Does Hana need a persistente memmory ( hard disk) to replicate de data from OLTP/OLAP system?
a) imagine I have my SAP ECC 50 terabytes. I need to have the 50 terabyes also to in HANA? or
its replicate with compression like 5% - 20% of compression to hard disk ? or go straight to memmory, ( im lil confused)
b) how long its take replicating? or its like ... replicate whole, then start with deltas (as sap bw) ?
btw.. which is the FLOW! ( without Data Services tecnology)
2) What is the role of SAP HANA consultant ? is there any role? which would be main activities? example.
what gonna happen to bw guy? which skills we need to have? its worth it ?
3) Buying HAna maybe is not very cheap.... If I need to make the Development-QUality-Production enviroment. I need to buy 3 appliances? imagine one appliance cost around 150.000.. i need do buy 3 ?
4) Can I replicate differente OLTP's in one appliace? and work sametime?
for examploe, i can replicate the ECC, then i replicate a SRM or SCM.. in same? its possible?
5) Does SAP HANA 1.0 modeller software can run in one normal server XEON ? just for test purposes?
I hope u guys can answer the questions.
thx

Hello,
I want to say thanks for whole you guys answer.
1) About training:
a) its better start training SAP HANA 1.0 or we can wait to 1.5?
b) the sap bo dataservices 4 maybe its good link to start?
2) If I buy one Intel Nehalem-EX CPUs and requires 16GB of RAM per core, not XS. Its possible to emulate?
Will SAP provide this software?
(IMDBerver), Sybase Replication Server and XWindows-based In-memory computing Studio.
Im not expecting using this in production environment., just for tests purposes.
thx
1) About training:
a) That's completely your choice. But I came to know that even SAP HANA 1.0 will be also having scale-up solutions.....so it is better to involve early in the market.
b) Yes.
2) HANA is an Appliace. It should come as a pre-loaded solution from the certified H/W vendor. SAP HANA will also come out for WM-EX in future(certified) apart from NH-EX as of today. SAP will not provide software alone.
Hello,
I've got some question.
This is only way to "touch" HANA?
This course gives any certification or something ?
What impact make's this course of any possibilities for SAP HANA opportunity?
what is WM-EX ?
Does anyone attented TZHANA course?
please give us the feed-back.
Thx

TZHANA is currently in rework and might be available in July again.
OHA10 is broader in scope, it contains information on installation and administration. That is not contained in TZHANA.
By the way, it doesn't make sense to wait for HANA 1.5. The latest rumors I heard said that HANA 1.5 will be skipped.

Thx for the answers.
I think its better to wait, not to HANA 1.5
but in turkey, sweden and brazil the course still active.. why?
even for that online course, maybe it will change.
I think best thing is DataServices.
I just wanted to replicate HANA to normal Server... and use modeler for test purposes..
nothing for production....
but, as ppl said.. its whole come with appliace.. so.. its better forget iit..unless there is another way.....

Hello,
I think the best teacher/trainer would be Vitality.
Two days with his theorical training with him, are more than worth than 30 days of pratical training!
You guys want practice??? Practice any1 can practice laterz. Most important is understand theorical things and make the organization "believe" and work the HANA with whole departments.
What's wrong? its just to know the method of replications and which ensure more properly for SAP Landscape, and there is some studio where u can handle the table, and u need to learn some sql and get good in perfomance, calculation, etcc.... what's difficulty?? its any1 with motivation can learn it easily...
i think hardest thing is change or update the organization process (Decision Support Systems) because the HANA is real..
the best approach to use HANA!!!
This is my opinion

Pheno,
Quick answers to your wide-open questions:
1/ Yes, although [SAP in-memory Database|http://bit.ly/gTyaTq] is memory-based database, it requires persistent storage as well (think of power failure or server re-boot). SAP HANA appliance does have storage besides RAM.
2/ SAP HANA 1.0 is [typical analytics implementation project|http://bit.ly/hETWGP], so you will need to have all typical roles: PM, Solution Architect, Data Modeler (this is the one mostly working with SAP In-memory Computing Studio), BI author, ETL specialist, QA etc. You can check as well my other blog on [what HANA means for your career|http://bit.ly/htQ5DA].
3/ You better have DevQAProd. Discuss pricing with your SAP account rep for software license and preferred hardware vendor for required machine size and list price.
4/ With HANA 1.0 you can replicate only one source system using Sybase Replication Server, but you can load as many systems as you want using SBO DataServices.
5/ SAP In-memory Computing Studio (which is modeling/development environment) can run on Windows or XWindows (eg. Linux).
Cheers,
-Vitaliy

Hello Guys
thx for the answers
2. About Hana Role.
When or how do we starts?.
The TZHANA, have some practices ? its help for start for some consulting? is there many customers? its worth it ?
3. humm.. do so we need to buy 3 appliances? its 3x cost.
5. Can anyone explain how this work in software round
a) Is there any server software. like HANA Server and install in linux/windows/unix?
b) ok.. there is SAP HANA 1.0 ( i think its for client one)
(im talking this for emulate the HANA in one standard server. like XEON 8gb RAM, just for test)(its not supported by sap)
Dank!!!
Re 3: So, how many tiers (like Sandbox, Dev, Acceptance, QA, Prod, Break-fix, Training etc) do you have in your BW or ERP landscape? How tiers cost there is different from HANA tiers?
Re. 5: SAP HANA 1.0 is a hardware/software SuSE Linux-based appliance with pre-installed SAP In-memory Database (IMDB server), Sybase Replication Server and XWindows-based In-memory computing Studio. On workstation you install IC Studio for administration and modeling purposes.
b) IMDB is designed for Intel Nehalem-EX CPUs and requires 16GB of RAM per core. For testing purposes there are XS (extra small) appliance configuration starting with something like 128GB of RAM.
IMDB is an engine for high-performance near real-time scenarios. You don't expect to put Lamborghini's engine into Fiat Uno to test the engine.
Guys: has anyone attended the TZHANA v1.0 training. Based on what I read in the content. It appears more like theory? Is there hands-on labs in this two day training? One my friend attend a similar two day training in April and came back disappointed since it was all theory and sales stuff! Please advice
I haven't attended myself, but heared mixed opinions about TZHANA. Today my colleague from another country told me that it had happened that the DataServices license was expiered on the trainings machine preventing them from hands-on. But another colleague who attended few months ago in yet another country was pretty happy about value for money.
It sounded as well that a lot depends on the trainer and his background and experience...

Hello,
Hana is a Hardware appliance ...Yes HANA can compresses the data drastically in the Coloum Based data store of SAP HANA Engine.
For Ex : If you have 120 T of data in your Traditional database the same Data if you replicate into HANA Engine it will come aroung 50 TB !!! which is very Exciting .........Isnt it????
U no need to have 3 HANA Appliances...HANA Mainly concentrated on Operational Reporting...for nearly real time purpose Analytics...There an an Information model Or Studio where You can Modlel the wanted in the form of views ...
There is an option to Load data from 3rd party tools by using the SAP BO Data services ( EX : BW , Other tools )
All the data will be stored in the Memory of HANA ENGINE...and on request data will be pulled from the Memory..which gives tremondus results...............
If I ahve answered your question,,,Pleease give me some points...
Thanks.

Guys, I would strongly recommend you to take TZHANA 2 days instructor-led course:
https://training.sap.com/be/en/course/tzhana-sap-high-performance-analytic-appliance-sap-hana-classr... <- you can search for dates in other countries too.
I haven't attended this course, but my colleagues had good opinion about it. This course should clarify many questions and hopefully eliminate lots of disinformation for you.

-Vitaliy
