DB statistics

Database Statistics is statistical data that get collected for database tables have information like no of rows are in each table, the number of distinct values that occur in a column etc. The database has a CBO (Cost Based Optimizer)which evaluates the queries user submit and uses the DB statistics to make decisions about which table to read first to optimize perofrmance.

ex - join of multiple tables

index to read the table

sequential read of table.

These statistical data is used by DBA to improve performance

BW Statistics :

It has information about queries, InfoCubes loads, compression etc .It is for basic functional areas of the Business Information Warehouse ( BW ).It is for recording and reporting system activity and performance.

To see it you can use ST03 or ST03n transaction and can see various statistical data. These information come from RSDDSTAT table .It use 0TCT cubes for this .

It will give you all info like run time of a query ,transaction used by a user ,loads related data etc .

Some imp OSS notes for the same :

422264, 309955, 551552

Dear Jaya,

Thanks for sharing the knowledge. After reading all this my understanding about the topic is:

DB Statistics contains data about the tables but what are those tables and where are they?

BI Statistics records all the activities being held in SAP Systems, for this do we have to activate something for this and do we have to specify what to record.
