9/80 Work Schedule Configuration

Former Member

We have 9/80 schedules in our organization and they were originally configured in such a way that for the 9/80 day schedules with every other Friday off, the workweeks split at Friday Noon. Even though we do not have clock time, but on Fridays of these schedules the time is actually recorded in clock times 8:00-12:00 and 12:00-16:00 in CATS. This makes time recording, absences etc. very complicated. Is there a better way of configuring the 9/80 schedules?

Assumption based on what I understood from your problem statement: Your work schedule has:

1. Normal working hours from Mon-Thu

2. Fri working hours (if first Friday): normal

3. Fri working hours option 2: first half working only

4. Fri working hours option 3: second half working only

5. Sat and Sun are off.

If my understanding is correct, you can carry out the following steps:

1. Set floating public holidays for all Fridays in your holiday calendar, with Holiday Class (HC) 9 for first-half working days and HC 8 for second half working days.

2. Set 2 variants for your Friday DWS - one with first half working hours and one with second half working hours

3. Set a DWS rule to query the HC and assign the appropriate variant to the appropriate Friday (e.g.: If HC (today)=9 and HC (tomorrow)=0-9 and today = friday, then assign variant A).

4. Regenerate all your work schedules.

This way, your planned working time is set for what you need. Wherever you record actual working times (CATS, Absence recording, etc.), they would be based on this plan.

Thanks for the response but actually the schedule looks more like this:

Week1

Mon-Thur 9hrs

Fri-Sun OFF

Week2

Mon-Thur 9hrs

Fri 8hrs

Sat-Sun OFF

Work week divide is Friday 12 (noon)

In CATS we record record daily "hours" instead of clock time, except for Friday when clock time(8-12 & 12-16) is recorded.

Are these employees paid weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly ?

You could have 3 Daily Work Schedules (9HRS, 8HRS and OFF), and have a 2 week Periodic Work schedule

1 - 9HRS, 9HRS, 9HRS, 9HRS, OFF, OFF, OFF

2 - 9HRS, 9HRS, 9HRS, 9HRS, 8HRS, OFF, OFF

Friday becomes a "normal" day, without any split.

Thanks for the input Rémi. These employees are paid bi-weekly. We had previously set up the schedule exactly as you have mentioned, but the problem with this is that based on our configuration the weekly OT automatically gets triggered after 40hrs in the week in which employee is supposed to work 44hrs. This is the reason(only for 9/80 schedules) we have the work week divide at Friday noon so that 8hrs worked on a Friday are split over the two weeks making them 40hrs each. The only problem is that we have to record these 8hrs as clock time(8-12 and 12-16) even though we do not track clock time in our organization.

Great. Please go ahead and carry out the configuration as suggested in my last post.

The only difference is that the first friday is off and the second friday is working.

That should help resolve your issue.
