Hi
we are currently using SAP BI 7.0 system. and we will do upgrade the BW system from BW7.0 to BW 7.3
please let me know what is the impact and issues we will face during upgrade.
BW 7.3 is absolutely not stable with so many bugs and issues. SAP is not even releasing SP6 , instead going to SP7. When you go through the corrections that are included in SP7, you'll get the picture. We are a week away from go-live and have unresolved issues that SAP is still working on. Especially if your queries have complex scenarios like exit variables, complex formulas, calculations, exception aggregations, cell math, chances are you will experience inconsistent Bex query behaviours.

Emre, which SP are you going to deploy? We did SP04 in my last 73 upgrade on September 2011.
I'm not saying it was smooth upgrade but issues were manageable.
Also notice that BW as every other software is evolving thing. That's why SAP is continuosly working on new SPs.
Good luck with go-live.
Martin
Martin,
We started with SP 4.0. After putting in close to 100 correction notes on top of SP 4 , we decided to go with SP 5 , as SP 6 was not released at the time ( well actually SP 6 will never be released after all). We hoped that SP5 would have at least included some of the fixes that were individually covered by SAP notes. To our big surprise, we noticed that SAP simply did not include some of these in SP5. Things that worked okay with SP4 started not working, some issues were resolved but we had different sets of problems (mostly front end Bex functionality and IP planning). We are still waiting for SAP to fix one major bug.
We would have never gone with 7.3 upgrade if it were not for BPC 10.0 (it is a prereq for BPC 10.0). BW as a product has been around for quite some time and should be considered pretty 'mature' and it is very disapointing that this version came out simly half baked.

Hi Emre
The support package 06 (SAPKW73006) was released to customers on 2012/03/30 09:04:06 and is available for download form the service marketplace, so it is definitely released.
SAP always recommends, that during an upgrade you should always go for the most recent available SP stack.
According the SP Stack schedule, SP07 is planned to be released this month.
Have a nice day,
Roland
Hi,
BW 7.30 SP06 was inteded only for HANA based customers, so the successor of SP05 is SP07 which is available for every customer.
In Terms of Upgrade see also http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-12042
Best Regards Roland
hi,
in the meantime since 7.30 is GA we added some additional post work topics to the overall upgrade presentation - http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-12042
as your description is a bit poor, it is hard to predict where the problem is, I didn't passed any SPAU problems so far.
please don't use this forum for detailed error messages which is intend to open a CSN message.
thanks and best regards
Roland
Hi Mishra,
One significant impact would be to migrate to analysis authorisation, if you have not already done.
7.3 does not support old authorisation concept.
Please check other details in the document given below.
