Hello,

I´m doing a SAP ECC 6.0 SR3 installation on OS/400 and DB2. Before a start the installation I have to install TMKSVR which is the bridge between the windows xp (x32) and i series. I did all the preparations before... but when I start the installation of TMKSVR I got the following messages/information:

starting installation...
checking for installation files...
checking/creating temporary directory...
copying installation files to temporary directory...
SAPCAR.EXE -> C:DOCUME~1SAPADMDEFINI~1TempSAPCAR.EXE
TMKSVR.SAR -> C:DOCUME~1SAPADMDEFINI~1TempTMKSVR.SAR
old installation found, removing...
unpacking TMKSVR.SAR...
SAPCAR: processing archive TMKSVR.SAR (version 2.01)
x TMKSVR.SAVF
SAPCAR: 1 file(s) extracted
transferring TMKSVR.SAR to server...
extracting savefile...

... and this is the error while installing:

"An error occured during installation (instmksvr: an error occurred while
extracting the savefile on the iseries host (details" "550-Error occurred on command
RSTOBJ OBJ(CRTTMKSVR) SAVLIB(TMKSVR) DEV(*SAVF) OBJTYPE(*ALL) SAVF(TMK.").)"

Can you help me how can I solve this issue...!

I search in these SDN forum for a same thread(s) and I found one which has the exactly error reported... but without any solution for that!

Thank you,

João Dimas - Portugal

Hi João,

your job might become an interesting adventure, when you are faacing issues that early already ...

I would now suggest, to FTP the SAVF of the CD manually to a SAVF on iSeries use CRTLIB TMKSVR and rstobj into that. Then try to copy it to TMKSVR00 and use one of the commands ... perhaps CRTTMKSVR ... and STRTMKSVR ...

I guess, you might need a bit support in order to make your project in time ...

Hello Volker,

Thank you for your help... I already solved this particulary issue, this happened due a problem in the firewall settings in windows XP side Ok... so I started again the TMKSVR installation:

starting installation...
checking for installation files...
checking/creating temporary directory...
copying installation files to temporary directory...
SAPCAR.EXE -> C:DOCUME~1SAPADMDEFINI~1TempSAPCAR.EXE
TMKSVR.SAR -> C:DOCUME~1SAPADMDEFINI~1TempTMKSVR.SAR
old installation found, removing...
unpacking TMKSVR.SAR...
SAPCAR: processing archive TMKSVR.SAR (version 2.01)
x TMKSVR.SAVF
SAPCAR: 1 file(s) extracted
transferring TMKSVR.SAR to server...
extracting savefile...
creating instance...
starting instance...
creating file share on the AS/400...
checking instance...

... but now it shown other error:

An Error occurred during installation (sendTMKMessage: could not send message, no connection available)

I thought this was due to FTP connection, but I checked this connection through Navigator and I see the FTP with status Started!

I searched for this error in SDN forum and I found this thread:

Any tip?

Kind regard,

Hi João,

last idea:

Is your ftp setup the way, that the IFS is default ? Then the tmksvr installation doesn't work ...

Ok Volker,

Finally this was solved... The TMKSVR is now installed!

What I did was:

I type in iseries console the command CFGTCP next I choose the option 10.Work with TCP/IP Host Table Entries and in that screen I add, besides it had already the hostname pointed to IP host, I also put in there the hostname + domain name (fully qualified domain name (FQDN))... so now my IP table has the following entries:

- ::1                         IPV6-LOOPBACK
                              IPV6-LOCALHOST

- 127.0.0.1                 LOOPBACK
                            LOCALHOST

- 192.134.23.123          <HOSTNAME>
                          <FQDN>

Thank you very much for your help Volker
