Question on Org. Structure

hi gurus

I want to ask a question on assignment part. Suppose there are 2 company codes A and B. they have respective plants X for A and Y for B. If we assign same shipping point P to these two plants, will there be any repercussions while accounting or creating reports based on shipping point? the same case may arise with assignment of Sales org. with distribution channels and divisions.

I would go for 2 shipping points. Because the plants are assigned to different Co cds. Thus to have clear structure and also clear & simple w.r.t reporting purposes.

Also important would be -

a. What do you gain by having ONLY 1 shipping point? (are the plants close by? )

b. During assignment (determination of shipping points) with 2 different shipping points, it would be clear SP1 is for P001, SP2 is for P002

Dear Brajesh17 ,

There is a critical assignment of Delivering PLANT to SALES OR/ DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL.

Due to this assignment, you will have to keep seperate shipping point for both the plants, since the company codes will be having different sales organizations.

Thanks & Regards,

Thank you everyone for quick response.

Actually this scenario I just saw in IDES system where the assignments are doen like that for Shippiing Point/Plant and Distribution channel/Sales Org. Its just a hypothetical quaestion that in this kind of assignments , will there be any negative effects on accounting part?

Hi,

You can assign one shipping point to as many plants(neighbouring ones preferably) as required. However it would make sense as I have said, if in actual business , the plants are situated nearby.

However, considering your scenario where there are 2 company codes , and plants correspondingly assigned to them, then you can assign one -to-one shipping points to the plants.

Thanks,

Hi,

With respect to shipping point if report is created it can be differentiated by giving Selection variant and by choosing the respective Company code and plant.

even combined reports can also be generated or even it can be compared also,

Hi,

Ideally there should be one shipping point for each plant, i.e. each plant should have a seperate shipping point - specially more so if the company codes are different.

Also, can you elaborate your requirement as to why there is requirement for only one shipping point for two different plants?

Thanks & regards
